Sean's one sentence analysis: The Nats loaded up on local products and small college players with good stats in this range, and Pleffner was no exception, with a .366/.454/.559 triple slash at the University of Tampa.

Notes from the community: "Pleffner is another small-college roll of the dice, a 22-y.o. junior who played a single season at the Univ. of Tampa after transferring from Tallahassee Community College after two years. Showed power (.559SLG), patience (.454OBP), and played good defense (.983FA) at UTampa. Pitched some at TCC, so there's always that chance he might be tried out as a reliever if he flames out as a hitter." - Luke Erickson, Nationals Prospects (@nats_prospects)

Previous analysis and notes:
Nats.com roundup: Pleffner hit .366, drove in 39 runs and scored 42 of his own after playing two seasons at Tallahassee Community College."
The Gambrills, Md./Arundel HS native was pretty big for a shortstop (6'4" 220), so it looks like the Nats are looking to move him to the outfield. He hit .366/.454/.559 this season.

Pleffner signed with the Nats on June 20, 2011.
